If you love wine and oranges this is the homemade wedding favor you need

The port wine jelly and orange recipe is truly one of a kind. If you love wine and oranges and were looking for an original way to include it in your favors, your answer is right here.

Use an inexpensive port wine and buy some gorgeous apothecary jars for a vintage feeling. You will only spend about 15 minutes preparing this and the jelly lasts up to a year, so you can make it way in advance of your reception.

Once you see how easy it is to make this, your inner baker will come to surface even if you hate being in the kitchen! And when you get all those compliments from your guests, I am sure you will try more of the recipes on this site.

Ingredients and Recipe

The following ingredients will make about 3 ½ pounds of jelly.

You need:

* 3 cups of red port,
* the zest and juice of 3 large oranges,
* also the grated zest and juice of 1 lemon,
* 2 ¼ lbs (1 kg)of granulated sugar
* and 9 oz (250g) of liquid pectin.

Put the orange and lemon juice along with the wine and sugar in a large nonreactive pot and bring them to a boil.

Once the sugar dissolves bring it to a full boil and cook for 10-15 minutes. Add the pectin and boil for another 2 minutes, skimming off any scum form the top of the jelly.

Turn off the heat and test for the jelly set. If it has reach the setting point add the lemon and orange zest and boil for another 30 seconds.

Turn off the heat and let the jelly stand for 3-4 minutes to cool a little, then place it in sterilized jars and label them.
