Many people will tell you that you need to decide your wedding colors first, as this item will be part of key questions asked from vendors that you will meet along the way.

However, I consider that a color by itself could be the “theme” of your celebration.

Many couples simply decide to plan their decorations, flowers, favors and attire based solely on a color scheme or palette, making this color of their choice the theme of the event.

In other cases, the theme of your choice will help you decide the colors for your wedding. For example, couples that decide to get married on Valentine’s Day are known to choose a pink or red color palette.

Step-by-Step Process for Creating the Perfect Wedding Theme

First, sit down, pen and paper in hand and start dreaming away.

Do you have a hobby? A favorite movie? A favorite color? Maybe an animal or flower?

Is there a place where you would love to spend your time more than anywhere else in this world? (I know, your hubby's arms come first to mind, but not useful for this exercise!)

Do a little brainstorming and write down some ideas. This process will help with picking a theme. These ideas could potentially become your wedding theme.

So take a breather and narrow them to your top 3.

Keep the paper to the side and let's concentrate on the next task.

7 Vital Questions To Help You Choose

There are so many questions when it comes down to picking a wedding theme!

So many that I'm quite sure you haven't even thought about half of them. But don't worry, I am here to help you so bear with me, it will all come clear in the end.

Here are some questions that will help you not only pick a wedding theme, but finding the perfect theme for you.

Ready? Here we go!

Get out another piece of paper and answer the following questions:

* Do you have a wedding date set?

* If you have a wedding date set... In what season will your wedding be?

* How long do you have to plan your wedding? Months, weeks, days?

* Do you know where your wedding ceremony and/or reception will be held?

* Do you know what time of the day your wedding will take place?

* Do you have a dream dress? By this I want you to think, do you have a style of dress picked already? Have you bought your dress already?

* Do you know what item in your wedding is most important to you and what your wedding budget is?

Yes, very important, maybe you don't know where every penny is going yet, but you should know overall how much money you are going to spend.

The All Important Decision Time

Decisions, decisions...

Get your two papers side to side now. Compare notes and begin to visualize what the best theme is for you.

For example, you may want a night outdoor wedding, but if your wedding date is set for winter you may have to choose another theme.

Or you may want a carnival wedding theme, but you will have your ceremony on a boat, so your theme and your venue are not compatible...

So give deep thought to the whole scenario.

Picking a wedding theme it is not difficult as long as you dedicate the necessary time to the process.

Do not make a rushed decision.

If you can't make up your mind, just put the papers to the side, and come back to them in a few days, reenergized and ready to rock.

Once you have decided the theme for you, the fun begins!!!

Have fun planning you wedding and picking a wedding theme, do not get stressed about it. Take a breather you are in for the ride of a lifetime, so make it fun from the beginning!
