Need help with ideas for bridesmaid dresses for a 1940's theme

by Stephanie
(Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada)

I am stuck.
My other half and I are thinking a 1940's wedding and I am thinking of a few different colors for the bridesmaids.

We are having black and white but I am thinking of another color as well to accentuate them, maybe bronze or deep cranberry.

I can't find any sites with dresses the colors I would like.
Can anyone please help me here?

I am stuck and frustrated at this issue.

And my answer...

Dear Stephanie:

There are many websites that certainly carry dresses in the colors that you describe.

I think the problem on finding your 1940's bridesmaid dresses has to do with definition more than with the color itself.

Cranberry is a deep shade of red, very close to vermillion, so looking for red bridesmaid dresses will make it easier to find what you want.

Each designer has their way and vision when describing the colors of their creations, so what you call cranberry may be passion red for someone else.

Other fancy names for red shades: Cardinal, claret, cinnabar, passion, ruby and/or scarlet.

Same goes for bronze, which is a medium shade of brown.

You may find what you are looking for under cinammon, ochre and/or copper.

House of Brides is one of the best sites where you can find hundreds of bridesmaid dresses in every color, size and price.

I hope you find this helpful and do not hesitate to contact me if you have any other questions.
