Chunky Apple Sauce
A Sweet Take On Homemade Wedding Favors

Surprise Everyone with this Original Idea

This chunky apple sauce is really easy to make and it is truly a very favorite by all wedding guests.

Depending on the quantity of homemade wedding favors you will make for your day, you may need a little help in the kitchen. So recruit your bridesmaids and maid of honor to help you peel the apples and to place the sauce once is made into the jars ( and do not forget to assign one of them to be responsible of transporting the favors to your venue while you are at it!)

Any summer, garden , carnival or apple theme wedding are fitting to have this favor among others.

The recipe presented here makes about 3 1/2 lb (1.6 kg) and you can keep it up to 3 months.

Ingredients and Recipe

You need:

* 2 1/4 lb (1kg) of cooking apples,
* 4 firm dessert apples,
* 10 oz (300 g) granulated sugar.
* juice of 2 lemons.

Peel, core and coarsely chop the cooking apples. Place in a non reactive pot with 14 fl oz (400 ml) water and simmer for ten minutes, or until the apples soften and break down to a puree.

Peel, core and cut the dessert apples into 1 1/2in (1 cm) dice. Add to the cooking apples with the lemon juice and the sugar. Bring it to a boil and simmer for 20 minutes until the excess liquid is gone and the sauce is thick.

Ladle into hot sterilized jars, seal and label storing in a cool dark place.
